Cole Palmer’s displays for Chelsea during the 2024/25 season have earned him recognition from his peers in the shape of a nomination for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
Palmer, who won the Young Player of the Year prize last year, enjoyed another memorable campaign in blue.
The attacker netted 15 goals in the Premier League and laid on eight more as we finished in fourth place, securing Champions League football for next term in the process.
Palmer was instrumental to our success. The 23-year-old picked up where he left off the previous campaign with a succession of a stunning goals and eyecatching displays.
He followed the deft lob at Wolves on matchday two by providing a trio of assists for Noni Madueke, and then in late September made Premier League history when he scored four goals in the first half of a win over Brighton. That feat has never been achieved before.
A pass Palmer provided to Pedro Neto in the home victory against Newcastle was hailed by many pundits as one of the best they had ever seen, and his impressive catalogue of goals continued with classy strikes at the Bridge against Aston Villa, Fulham and Bournemouth.
A first lean spell in blue followed, but Palmer was back to his best during the run-in, notably during a vital victory against champions Liverpool when he once again showed he belongs among the very best. It is no surprise his fellow professionals, those who come up against him every week, have chosen the England international as one of the top players last season.
He is joined on the six-player shortlist by Alexander Isak (Newcastle), Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Declan Rice (Arsenal) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool). The winner will be announced on 19 August at the PFA Awards in Manchester.
Congratulations, Cole!
