We have just three days left before Chelsea’s first pre-season game in Japan against Kawasaki Frontale and we continue our countdown to kick-off in Yokohama by looking back on a memorable snapshot of the Blues’ new head coach Frank Lampard during a recent visit to the country.

In the image above, taken in November 2017, the former Chelsea midfielder can be seen having a bit of fun as he photo-bombed unsuspecting fans while they posed for photos with the Premier League trophy at an event in downtown Tokyo.

Having retired as a player earlier that year, Lampard travelled to Japan as a club representative on a Premier League trophy tour and helped out at a Chelsea FC Foundation coaching session before meeting Blues fans at a packed concourse in the Japanese capital.

He will have more serious business in Japan this time around as he prepares his players for the season ahead with matches against J.League champions Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama on Friday 19 July and Barcelona in Saitama on Tuesday 23 July.
