Chelsea’s first pre-season game in Japan against Kawasaki Frontale is just six days away and we continue our countdown to kick-off in Yokohama by looking back at another image from past visits to the country by the Blues.

Our photo today shows Chelsea mascot Stamford posing with fans at the International Stadium in Yokohama before the FIFA Club World Cup final between the Blues and Corinthians in December 2012.

Since he was unveiled as Chelsea’s mascot in 1980, the lovable lion has entertained fans at Stamford Bridge and also mingled with our international supporters when he has followed the club during our pre-season and post-season trips around the world.

Chelsea will face J.League champions Kawasaki Frontale in Yokohama on Friday 19 July and Barcelona in Saitama on Tuesday 23 July on our pre-season visit to Japan. For ticket information, please click here.
