Marc Cucurella’s winning header from our victory over Manchester United last month has been named as Chelsea’s Goal of the Month for May.
The Spaniard climbed highest to connect with a teasing Reece James cross, before directing his effort back across United goalkeeper Andre Onana before nestling in the far corner.
It ensured a crucial 1-0 over Ruben Amorim’s side, sending Stamford Bridge wild and securing a vital three points in our, ultimately successful, quest to secure Champions League football via a top-five finish in the Premier League.
Now, the header has been voted as our best goal in May courtesy of Chelsea fans around the world via our official app and website.
Cucurella’s goal received 41 per cent of the vote, beating Jadon Sancho’s stunner against Real Betis into second place with 35 per cent.
Enzo Fernandez’s header in the Conference League final against Betis took third spot with nine per cent, with a pair of goals against Djurgaden from Nicolas Jackson [six per cent] and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall [three per cent] following behind.
Honourable mentions go to a trio of Chelsea Women strikes from Aggie Beever-Jones, Cat Macario and Sandy Baltimore to complete the voting.
Congratulations, Cucu!
