The latest addition to the Chelsea Legends match at Stamford Bridge next month is a double Premier League winner...

Another famous name has been added to Roberto Di Matteo’s squad to take on Liverpool Legends on Saturday 11 October and he is Diego Costa, Chelsea’s leading goalscorer in both our 2014/15 and our 2016/17 title wins.

Hugely popular with the Blues support and renowned for his combative centre-forward play, as well as his finishing ability, the Brazilian-born Spain international enjoyed titanic battles against the Liverpool defenders of the day, not least during the League Cup semi-final of 2015. He went on to score in the final against Tottenham, securing the third of the three trophies he won while a Chelsea player.

Diego Costa, who netted 59 goals in 120 appearances for the club, joins Petr Cech, Katie Chapman Joe Cole, Carlo Cudicini, Gemma Davison, Marcel Desailly, William Gallas, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Eden Hazard, Salomon Kalou, Ramires, Frank Sinclair, John Terry and Gianfranco Zola as players confirmed as taking part in the fundraiser for the Chelsea Foundation and the Chelsea Players’ Trust.
