Chelsea Under-21s are in action in the Papa Johns Trophy round of 32 against League One high-flyers Peterborough United tonight...

Mark Robinson's men will take on the Posh this evening with a place in the last-16 up for grabs. The game takes place at the Weston Homes Stadium, kick-off 7.30pm, and tickets are still available.

Our development squad have been in great form in all competitions and will want to end the year with a win against the League One outfit.

Mark Robinson's words

'The players are in good spirits after the run of results they have had,' the head coach told us. 'It would have been better to have had games leading up to Peterborough rather than just over two weeks off but the players have been working hard to keep themselves sharp and focused.

'We have a few of our usual players missing due to injury and stepping up to the first team but the latter is what it's all about and exactly what you want.'

'Peterborough are flying high in League One and play excellent, high-tempo football so it's the great challenge you want for our young players and one I feel like the players are relishing.'

Journey so far

Our first game in Group O was a 1-0 loss against Sutton United where despite creating the better chances and dominating proceedings from a possession standpoint, we failed to make our pressure count.

Cesare Casadei's red card following a second bookable offence despite him impressing was indicative of how the match went for us.

We bounced back from defeat though as our second game saw us overturn a 1-0 deficit with two great goals against Oxford United.

A Mason Burstow lob and a solo effort from Lewis Hall were enough to give us our first win in the group and set us in good stead to qualify from the group.

Our final group game was a thrilling 3-2 win against Leyton Orient. Malik Mothersille capped his first appearance for the development squad this season with a late brace in stoppage time to give us the win and seal qualification as group winners. The other goal in that game was a brilliant solo effort from Omari Hutchinson.

Last time out

Our last fixture was a convincing 3-0 Premier League 2 win against Tottenham at Kingsmeadow.

Second-half goals from Jude Soonsup-Bell, Charlie Webster and Mothersille saw our young Blues come out on top in the London derby on a cold and rainy night.

That result saw us climb to fourth, three points off the top of the table, albeit having played a game more than all clubs directly above us.

Nevertheless, with that victory, our unbeaten record stretched to 10 games in all competitions as our last defeat was actually in this competition against Sutton United.

Our opponents

Peterborough sit in fourth, 10 points off the automatic play-off spots in League One. They have lost their last two league games, which were against Bristol Rovers and Exeter City.

Their route to the final saw them finish second in Group L as they lost to Stevenage, convincingly beat Tottenham's Under-21 side and drew 1-1 against Wycombe Wanderers in normal time but lost on penalties.
