Chelsea goalkeeper Emily Orman has signed a new deal with the club, and will spend the upcoming 2023/24 campaign at Reading.

The 20-year-old had an option to extend her contract by a further year exercised in May. She has since put pen to paper on a new deal with the Blues, which runs until the summer of 2025 with the option of a further year, before joining Reading of the Women’s Championship ahead of next season.

Speaking on the new contract and subsequent loan, general manager Paul Green said: ‘We see this as a good opportunity for Emily to develop more match minutes in a competitive league. She’s coming off the back of a season of great learning, training alongside Ann and Zecira.

‘We feel this is the next step in her development and look forward to seeing her have a successful season with Reading.’

After joining the club as a 16-year-old, Orman signed her first professional contract with the Blues ahead of the 2021/22 season having spent the majority of the previous campaign training with the first team.

She would go on to spend the 2021/22 season on loan at Crystal Palace in the Women’s Championship before returning to Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 season, where she was in the first team squad for the whole campaign.

On the international stage, Orman has represented England across the age groups all the way from Under-14s to Under-19s level.

Everyone at Chelsea sends our congratulations to Emily on her new contract and wishes her every success during her time on loan with Reading.
