As preparations continue for this summer's Copa America, Enzo Fernandez helped Argentina to a fight-back win over Costa Rica to continue their impressive form.

Enzo Fernandez played the first 82 minutes of this friendly in Los Angeles at the heart of the Argentina midfield, meaning that after 21 international caps, the Chelsea man has still lost just one match when he’s started for his country.

That is part of an incredible run by the Albiceleste, who have now failed to win just one of their last 18 matches, dating back to the opening game of their triumphant 2022 World Cup campaign.

Argentina’s best chance of the first half came when Enzo played in Alejandro Garnacho with a perfect through-ball, but goalkeeper Keylor Navas produced a fine double save. Costa Rica then took a surprise lead on the counter, when Argentina's own keeper Walter Benitez could only parry Alvaro Zamora’s shot into the path of striker Manfred Ugalde.

Normal service was resumed after the break and Enzo went close, Navas somehow turning his volley around the post with an outstretched leg.

Angel Di Maria then pulled Argentina level with a pinpoint free-kick to start the comeback. Soon afterwards the South Americans had the lead, when Alexis Mac Allister turned in the rebound from close range after Nicolas Tagliafico had headed a corner against the crossbar.

Substitute Lautaro Martinez then slotted in from Rodrigo De Paul’s pass to make the final score 3-1 and continue Argentina’s impressive run of form. The Albiceleste have now lost just twice since their elimination by Brazil in the semi-finals of the 2019 Copa America.

This win over Costa Rica completes their early preparations for the next edition of the Copa America, which kicks off in the USA in June. Argentina start their campaign with group games against Canada, Chile and Peru.
