Enzo Maresca has confirmed Cole Palmer will miss tomorrow's Premier League clash with Fulham due to the injury sustained ahead of our victory over West Ham United.

The 23-year-old was named in the starting XI for the contest at the London Stadium last Friday, but pulled out of the warm-up and was forced to watch on from the sidelines as we claimed an emphatic 5-1 away victory.

Palmer was not included in today's England squad by Thomas Tuchel, and the Blues forward will be absent from tomorrow's visit from our west London neighbours.

Also ruled out against Fulham, as confirmed by our Italian head coach at his pre-match press conference, are Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile.

‘Cole is out,’ Maresca told journalists at Cobham. ‘Also, Benoit is out, and Romeo is out. The rest are all okay.

‘Cole we need to see day by day, and the other two I don’t think are going to be back after the international break. But they are going to be closer.

‘I spoke with Thomas a few times, but in the end it’s Thomas’ decision and he decided that [to leave Palmer out of the squad]. He is not available tomorrow, so it shows that he has a problem.’

Estevao Willian replaced Palmer in our starting XI against West Ham and joined an attack that included, for the first time, both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Maresca explained that while he would prefer to have Palmer available for Fulham’s visit, he will once again look to find ‘different solutions’ to the England international's absence, as we did at the London Stadium.

‘For sure, 100 per cent, we are a much better team with Cole, no doubt,’ Enzo said. 'But when Cole is not in the game, we need to find different solutions.

'Last week [against West Ham] we found different solutions, and hopefully tomorrow we can again find different solutions.'

Maresca also touched upon how he will try to manage Lavia and Badiashile as they aim to return to action, with the head coach highlighting the approach taken for Wesley Fofana as a similar example.

‘With Romeo and Benoit, it’s normal after a long time out that they will need time and sessions,’ the Italian stated. ‘It’s the same with what we are doing with Wes.

‘Wes is back and the other day he played some minutes. Hopefully, we can have more minutes and get him to the right condition.

‘Romeo, I think two seasons ago, he didn’t start any games. Last year he played some games, this season the target is to give him more games.

‘Hopefully, the moment he is back, he can be fit for a long time and play more minutes and games, because he is a player we really trust.’
