Enzo Maresca has discussed Moises Caicedo and Joao Pedro's chances of featuring in our starting XI for Sunday's Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues are one game from potential glory in the USA, having made it all the way to the Club World Cup final, where either the Blues or Paris Saint-Germain will be crowned champions.
Our chances of succeeding in that final were given a boost on Friday when Maresca confirmed that Caicedo returned to training for that day's session, leaving him hopeful of having the midfielder available to face PSG.
'Moises is an important player for us,' said Maresca. 'He participated in the session this morning and I hope we can have him on Sunday.'
Our head coach also discussed the strengths of forward Joao Pedro, who netted twice in our 2-0 semi-final victory over Fluminense, and is one of several talented attacking options open to Maresca for our next game.
‘Joao is a very good player, the reason why we bought him is we think he’s going to help us against teams that defend deep, low blocks.
'He is very good in small spaces, has great quality. We have 48 hours before the final and we are lucky to be able to pick from different options. We will see who is going to play.’
Speaking to the gathered media at the MetLife Stadium, Maresca concluded by reiterating that spirits are high within the Chelsea ranks heading into our Club World Cup final.
‘In this moment, the mood inside the changing room is fantastic, top,' he added. 'The reason why is because they value what they have done during this competition and during the season, especially now in where we are here in this competition.
'When you start with 32 teams, and you are lucky to be here at the end with just two teams, they are proud and happy. I have the feeling we are ready to play this final on Sunday.’
