Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca will be unable to call upon 'seven or eight players' for Liverpool's visit to Stamford Bridge due to injuries and suspension.
The Blues host Arne Slot's side in our final fixture before the international break, and we will look to build upon the hard-fought victory secured over Benfica in Champions League action on Tuesday.
Liverpool, in contrast, were beaten in their midweek European assignment and also suffered their first defeat in the top flight last weekend to Crystal Palace. However, the Reds remain top of the Premier League with a two-point cushion over Arsenal in second.
Maresca is aware of the challenge that awaits his Chelsea side tomorrow evening, and he confirmed at his pre-match press conference that we will still be without a handful of players.
'Cole (Palmer) is still out,' Maresca said. 'Trevoh is also suspended [after receiving a red card against Brighton], and we have seven or eight players out for tomorrow's game.
'I don't have any update at the moment [on Palmer]. We have a meeting this week to see how he is and we will then decide [whether he can return after the international break].
Maresca was able to welcome back Benoit Badiashile from injury in midweek and the French defender produced a composed performance in the heart of the Chelsea backline before being replaced in the latter stages by Josh Acheampong.
The Academy graduate was also brought on last week after we were reduced to ten men against Brighton and Maresca has reiterated his faith in Acheampong and the other burgeoning players in his squad.
The Blues head coach said: ‘I think it’s a fact that I really trust the young players, not just the young players we have signed, but the young players from the Academy.
We gave games last season to Josh Acheampong ahead of senior players who were on the bench. That shows I really trust young players. The same thing happened with Ty (George).
'I really trust all the players we have and at the moment we have four or five defenders out, so we will try to adapt and find the right solutions for tomorrow’s game.’
Marc Guiu has yet to feature for the Blues since being recalled from his loan spell at Sunderland in the final days of the transfer window, but has been named in our match-day squad for our previous three fixtures.
Maresca says the Spanish forward will be given minutes in the games ahead and insists Guiu's development will also be served by being around the first-team environment at Chelsea.
He explained: 'Marc is working well – this week he has worked much better compared to the first weeks when he came back. For sure, he is going to get minutes for us and play games.
'He is back at a big club like Chelsea and he is going to get minutes with us, no doubt. And also for me, the development of a young player is not just about the game. 'It’s about the training sessions and the day by day. It’s important that he’s with us and working with us.’
