Enzo Maresca has praised Pedro Neto’s contributions to his side, and believes the winger will continue to be essential in helping the Blues spread the goals around the frontline, as we prepare for fourth-round action in the Carabao Cup against Wolves.

No stranger to Molineux and the gold hues of Wolves’ strip, Pedro Neto featured for the Midlands-based side for five seasons, enjoying a successful spell and racking up over 100 Premier League appearances.

Having arrived at Stamford Bridge as one of Maresca’s first signings last season, Neto gelled into the Italian’s plan immediately, helping us secure the Conference League and Club World Cup trophies – scoring three times on the way to success Stateside.

Maresca has been pleased with the Portuguese international's progress – Neto has scored and contributed two assists in our last two matches – while recognising there is always more to come.

‘He’s top, he's very humble and working hard,’ Maresca opened, speaking in his pre-match press conference.

‘He's a very important player for us, and we are very happy with Pedro. He's exactly the same as other players – he needs to be always 100 per cent, because in the moment that you drop a little bit, mentally or physically, in this league, it's complicated.’

With the Blues currently top in the Premier League for goals scored, our head coach explained that Pedro and the other forwards will be crucial to keeping our tally high.

Maresca added: ‘We have said many times the five players at the front, we need six, seven, eight, nine, 10 goals each, in the way we did last season.’
