Enzo Maresca won’t be able to call upon Christopher Nkunku for the visit of Manchester United this evening, but the Chelsea head coach is hopeful the French forward will be available to feature against Nottingham Forest.
Nkunku sustained a knock in training prior to the first leg of our UEFA Conference League semi-final tie against Djurgarden and has been sidelined for our previous four matches in all competitions.
However, the 25-year-old, who has netted 14 times across all competitions this season, is nearing a return to training, according to Maresca.
‘Christo is close to coming back and training with us,’ the Blues head coach stated during his pre-match press conference ahead of United's visit to Stamford Bridge.
‘I said two weeks ago it was a very small problem, ten days, two weeks. Probably next week he can start already with us.’
