Enzo Maresca does not want his Chelsea side to fall victim to one of football's 'bad surprises' as we look to secure our place in the knockout stage of the FIFA Club World Cup this evening.
The Blues return to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia this evening and know a place in the Round of 16 awaits if we can avoid defeat against ES Tunis.
That will not be a simple task, however. The Tunisian champions have showcased their quality during the tournament and will progress at our expense if they claim victory.
Throw in the searing heat that has engulfed Pennsylvania and Maresca is acutely aware of the potential pitfalls his side must avoid.
‘In this moment, the focus is on the game,' he said at his pre-match press conference. 'Football is full of surprises – bad surprises – so we need to be ready for the game tomorrow and win the game.
‘When you are the Chelsea manager or a Chelsea player, any game you don’t win is a headline. We are used to that. Tomorrow is a game where we have to do the right things to go through to the next stage and we will need to give our best.’
Chelsea's game against ES Tunis kicks off at 2am UK time on Wednesday. You can watch that and every other game at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 live for free by signing up with DAZN here.
