Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez scored his second Argentina goal in a huge 7-0 friendly win over Curacao on Tuesday.

On a night where Lionel Messi’s hat-trick saw him surpass the 100 international goals mark, Enzo scored an emphatic goal for his national side, smashing home from outside the area in the first half.

After neat footwork and a tidy lay-off from Argentina great Messi, Enzo curled a right-footed attempt into the near corner, leaving goalkeeper Eloy Room unmoved.

It was a goal that made it 4-0 on the night and that came just minutes before Messi could complete his trio of goals in the opening 37 minutes. Messi (101) now trails only two men’s footballers on the list of most goals for a national side, behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo (122) and Iran’s Ali Daei (109).

Angel Di Maria, Nicolas Gonzales and Gonzalo Montiel also bagged, the latter the man who scored the winning penalty in the World Cup final shoot-out.

After the victory in Santiago del Estero, there were tributes from the home crowd for Lionel Scaloni and his Qatar 2022 World Cup winning side, who will regroup in June for another international break with an eye on the start of CONMEBOL qualifying for the next World Cup in September.

Our No.5 played just 50 minutes before being substituted and will now join back up with his Chelsea team-mates at Cobham ahead of Saturday's return to Premier League action against Aston Villa.

Well played and congratulations, Enzo!
