Erin Cuthbert has signed a new contract with Chelsea, keeping the midfielder at the club until the summer of 2025.

Since joining the Blues as a teenager from Glasgow City in 2016, Cuthbert has shown consistent levels of commitment, tenacity and quality in all aspects of her game, becoming a firm favourite among team-mates and supporters alike.

The Scotland international has enjoyed a trophy-laden career at Chelsea helping us towards Women's Super League, FA Cup, Continental Cup and Community Shield triumphs during her six years in London.

On putting pen to paper and her ambitions for the future, Erin Cuthbert said: ‘I’m delighted, it’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy to finally get it over the line. This is my club and this is where I want to be.

‘The hard work is just beginning, it’s only a stepping stone in where I want to be. I’ve still got a lot to learn, I’ve still got a lot to give to this club. I know I’ve got more in my tank and that I can reach even bigger heights.’

General manager Paul Green commented on Cuthbert’s signing: ‘We are delighted to have extended Erin’s contract. Erin in her time with us has been key to our success and is now coming into her prime. We look forward to seeing her continue to improve and develop in central midfield in the upcoming years.’

Cuthbert made a good first impression during the 2017 Spring Series and became hugely influential during the 2017/18 campaign. In her first full season with the club, she helped us towards a second WSL and Women’s FA Cup double while finishing the campaign as our third-highest goalscorer.

There was continued personal growth for Cuthbert during the 2018/19 season. She was named Chelsea Women’s Player of the Year and was our third-highest goalscorer for the second consecutive season, netting in every round of our run to the Champions League semi-finals against Lyon. Her superb volley in this match was voted by UEFA as best goal of the 2019 Women’s Champions League.

After scoring at Wembley in the Community Shield victory over Manchester City to begin the 2020/21 season, Cuthbert made 35 appearances for the Blues and always gave everything when called upon to help us towards another WSL title.

Last season, we retained our WSL title and clinched the FA Cup twice (the first carried over from the previous season due to Covid). Cuthbert was a driving force behind these successes, starting 29 matches and netting eight goals, including a stunner in the FA Cup triumph over Manchester City.

On the international stage, Cuthbert has achieved 56 caps and 20 goals for Scotland at senior level. She made her full debut against Belarus during UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 qualification, before going to her first World Cup finals in 2019 and scoring against Argentina. Her efforts were duly rewarded when she was named Scotland Women’s Player of the Year 2019.

Everyone at Chelsea congratulates Erin and wishes her continued success in the future.
