Chelsea FC Women forward Erin Cuthbert will join Chelsea legend and former captain John Terry and other stars to take part in the NHS Charities Together Cup – an all-star FIFA ’20 tournament to raise funds for the NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Urgent Appeal.

The Covid-19 Urgent Appeal was launched by NHS Charities Together to acknowledge and support NHS staff, volunteers and volunteers impacted by Covid-19 across the country.

Many well-known names from the worlds of sport, television, comedy, music and film have signed up for the NHS Charities Together Cup.

Among the sports stars to take part are Arsenal Women’s Leah Williamson and Vivianne Miedema, England cricketer Ben Stokes and England rugby player Ben Youngs. British triathlete Johnny Brownlee, former boxer Tony Bellew, plus professional golfer and Chelsea fan Justin Rose will also come up against a whole host of celebrities.

The competition, which is being streamed live online and social media by outlets such as the Mirror, Express and Star newspapers, will be fronted by Ben Shepherd, Chris Kamara and Paddy McGuinness. Interviews, build-up, results and highlights will also be available on the competition's official website here.

Cuthbert said: ‘I’m an avid gamer so this kind of opportunity suited me very well because I can stay home but also raise money for the NHS as well.

‘I’ve volunteered to do some services in my local area but I have not been called upon yet so I just wanted to help out in any way that I can and this opportunity came calling.

‘It’s not about winning but I always like to win, I’m a determined person and I’m sure everyone will want to do well. That’s the beauty of it, everyone playing wants to win so it will be better for the people who want to watch.

‘I’m really looking forward to the opportunity and I hope that as many people as possible are generous and can put their hands in their pockets to appreciate what all the NHS workers are doing.’

All proceeds raised from the competition for the Covid-19 Urgent Appeal will fund grants to help NHS charities support NHS staff, volunteers and patients in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide. This includes wellbeing packs and costs associated with travel, parking, accommodation and volunteer expenses.
