With Argentina completing their 2026 World Cup group stage campaign against Jordon tonight, we look back at the six players who have represented the Albiceleste and scored for Chelsea over the years.
Juan Sebastian Veron became the first player to represent the Blues from the South American nation – and our first goalscorer – following his signing from Manchester United in the summer of 2003.
Eight of his compatriots have since called Stamford Bridge home, with our current squad containing Argentine duo Enzo Fernandez and Alejandro Garnacho.
Both are included in our six-strong list of Argentine goalscorers, and we begin with Garnacho, who became the latest during the 2025/26 campaign...
Alejandro Garnacho
Following the Veron path in joining the Blues from Manchester United, Garnacho made his Chelsea debut as a late substitute in a 2-2 draw against Brentford in September 2025.
It was in his seventh appearance for the Blues that his first goal arrived. Released down the left flank by Pedro Neto, Garnacho drove into the Sunderland penalty area and powered a left-footed finish between the legs of goalkeeper Robin Roefs.
Facundo Buonanotte
Joining the Blues on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2025, it took Buonanotte just two games to get off the mark for Chelsea.
Having made his debut against Brentford in the Premier League, the 20-year-old opened his Chelsea account in the League Cup against Lincoln City.
He displayed nimble footwork to collect a Tyrique George pass, weave through the box, and poke his finish beyond goalkeeper Zach Jeacock.
Notably, the goal was our 50th scored by Argentine players.
Enzo Fernandez
A productive 2025/26 campaign, in which he struck 15 goals in all competitions, saw Fernandez become our all-time highest-scoring Argentine.
The midfielder has now netted 31 times for the Blues, and several of those have been memorable strikes, including away to Tottenham Hotspur during the 2025/25 season, a last-minute winner against West Ham United last term, and an FA Cup semi-final strike against Leeds United.
Gonzalo Higuain
The experienced striker’s spell at Stamford Bridge was short, joining on loan from Juventus for the second half of the 2018/19 season, but he did find the net five times for the Blues.
All those goals came in the Premier League and included a brace on his home debut, when he scored twice in a 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town at the start of February.
Hernan Crespo
Our second-highest-scoring Argentine netted 25 goals for Chelsea, either side of a season spent on loan at AC Milan.
Crespo couldn’t quite match his prolific record in Italy on English shores, but few strikers to have represented the Blues have possessed his understanding of space and intelligent off-the-ball movement. He was an expert finisher, too.
Having scored a respectable 12 goals in all competitions in his debut campaign, Crespo did one better on his return from Milan, including 10 strikes in the Premier League, which contributed to our successful defence of the Premier League title.
Juan Sebastian Veron
The first Argentinian to score for Chelsea – beating Crespo by one month in 2003 – was Veron.
The playmaker sparked hopes that he could rediscover his best form at Stamford Bridge when he got the opening goal of a 2-1 Premier League win away at Liverpool on his debut, but it wasn’t to be.
That was the only goal he scored for Chelsea before moving back to Italy with Inter Milan at the end of the season.
