Chelsea Foundation brought a group of special guests face-to-face with their heroes at Cobham training ground for the latest community day.
On a fresh, overcast morning at Cobham, our guests were treated to a series of unforgettable activities. They began by visiting the press conference room where they took part in a Q&A session with the club’s nutritionist, before posing for pictures with the iconic Champions League trophy.
Soon after, our young fans stepped out onto the fringes of the training pitch to see the men’s first team training session, led by Graham Potter and the coaching staff, a chance to see their favourite stars hard at work.
Once the formalities were over, the players and management spent time with our guests and their families. There were plenty of pictures taken and lots of autographs signed, a precious souvenir to cherish from a memorable experience.
Zade, 8, came via Make a Wish and arrived in a limousine, the perfect way to cap a truly unique experience where he reflected on the best parts of his day.
‘Meeting the players, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling. In the press conference room, we took a picture of the Champions League trophy. It’s been an amazing day!’
Abby, 15, travelled all the way from Ireland and gave her thoughts on the experience and one exciting moment, in particular.
‘Meeting the players, Mason Mount is my favourite player! I didn’t expect to be in the press room and get to ask questions to the nutritionist. I had a photo with the Champions League trophy as well, I didn’t expect that. It was insane, beyond belief!’
Ned, 13, gave an insightful take on the training session and enjoyed seeing the comradery on display between the players.
‘Watching the players warm-up and the way they train. It’s amazing seeing the way they communicate and interact with each other, like more than team mates and close friends.’
Having seen the players in action, Ned named the players who grabbed his attention, and not just for their ability on the football pitch.
‘Raheem Sterling or Mason Mount, being picked for the England squad coming up to the World Cup, it’s awesome to see them perform and do what they do.
‘Also, how tall is Kai Havertz? He is huge!’
These community days see the Chelsea Foundation linking up with a range of charities to arrange visits for supporters and their carers, giving them a well-deserved boost in what is a difficult time for them and their families.
