Chelsea goalkeeper Femke Liefting will spend this season on loan at Ajax.

The young goalkeeper joined Chelsea in January 2025, signing on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

On the international stage, Liefting represented her country at the Under-17s and Under-19 European Championships, before playing at the Under-20s World Cup in Colombia in the summer of 2024.

Liefting earned two call-ups to the Dutch senior squad before her move to Chelsea, by which stage she had made over 50 club appearances in the Dutch league.

Soon after signing for Chelsea, she suffered a foot injury before she could make any appearances.

Having recovered ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, she made a loan switch to WSL 2 side Newcastle United. She started the season strongly, making seven starts before a hip injury in November ruled her out for the remainder of the season.

She will now join Ajax to continue her development in her home country during the 2026/27 season.

Everyone at Chelsea wishes Femke all the best for her loan move, and we look forward to seeing her progress this season.
