After successfully overcoming hosts Australia at the semi-final stage, five Blues will go forward with England to the Women’s World Cup final against Spain on Sunday with dreams of conquering the globe.
Millie Bright, Jess Carter, Niamh Charles, Lauren James and Hannah Hampton will fly the flag for the Blues as the Lionesses prepare to play their maiden World Cup final. England will be looking to replicate their success at the European Championships last summer.
Bright, Carter and Hampton were part of that Euro 2022 triumph on home soil, while Charles and James have experienced their first taste of a major tournament Down Under and will be aiming to mark the occasion with winners medals.
Having been handed the captaincy ahead of the tournament, Bright has led by example while Carter has been thoroughly impressive and grown in confidence with each game that has passed. Charles has played her first major tournament minutes while James is available for selection once more after suspension.
Sarina Wiegman became the first coach to take two different countries to a World Cup final in the women’s game, and the England manager will be busy preparing her side to take on Spain at the final in Sydney on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 11am (UK time).
Elsewhere, three of our Blues will contest the third place play-off match between Australia and Sweden where Sam Kerr, Zecira Musovic and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd will go head-to-head in Brisbane on Saturday, with kick-off at 9am (UK time).
Our World Cup stars will return to domestic action when the Women’s Super League season begins in October. Click here to view our ticket bundles and find out how to secure your seats for 2023/24!
