Mauricio Pochettino has been preparing his Chelsea players for the visit of Wolves on Sunday as the Blues look to get back on track following the midweek loss at Liverpool

The visitors sit just behind us in the Premier League table in 11th, having picked up four points from their last three games in the competition.

But the Blues are turning Stamford Bridge into something of a fortress once more, having not lost at home since October in all competitions, a run that has now stretched to ten games.

The players spent Friday morning at Cobham preparing for Sunday's clash, where Pochettino was given a welcome boost by the return to training of forward Nicolas Jackson.

Although he will need to assessed following a month away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, the Blues boss has confirmed Jackson could play some part against Wolves.

‘We need to assess Nico (Jackson),' Pochettino said at his pre-match press conference. 'Today was his first training session with us after returning.

'He didn’t play too much but was away for one month and that is why we have to assess him and not take any risks.

'He will be involved, if nothing happens tomorrow, in the squad on Sunday.'

Jackson's return is another positive following the impressive 45-minute cameo from Christopher Nkunku in midweek. The France international made his comeback from a hip injury at Anfield and is in contention to feature once more against Wolves.

‘It’s good to see him back, but we need to anticipate things,' added Pochettino. 'Forty-five minutes was good (at Anfield)

'After the game we wanted to work a little bit more but he couldn’t do that. So, 45 minutes was enough for him. We need to analyse and assess if he can start the next game.

'These are the circumstances that sometimes, if you only see the result, we have to put into context. Hopefully he can cope with the demands of the game and can play more than 45 minutes.'

Another player nearing the end of a spell on the sidelines is defender Trevoh Chalobah. The 24-year-old has yet to feature this season but has stepped up his recovery in recent training sessions and is closing in on a return.

‘He (Chalobah) has trained really well,' updated Pochettino. 'We will need permission from medical for him to have the possibility to be with the squad. At the moment, we don’t have permission.’

Elsewhere, Cole Palmer will be looking to continue his excellent form on home soil, following three goals at the Bridge last month.

The England international may face increased competition for a starting spot in the coming weeks as more players return to the fold, but his manager has highlighted the number of different attacking roles the 21-year-old can play.

'I think the role [number nine] he started from the beginning against Liverpool is not important in the dynamic of the game,' said Pochettino.

'If you see the game he wasn’t a striker, he was playing like an offensive midfielder, sharing with Conor (Gallagher) in the first half, and then in the second half the number nine was Nkunku and he was like a third midfielder or an offensive midfielder.

'He was playing in the position that he likes to play in but we cannot put it out of the context of the (overall) team performance.
