The hottest day of the year so far added an extra dimension to training and helped prepare the players for the kind of temperatures they can expect when we head to the USA next week.

It was a roasting day in Surrey on Friday with the thermometer touching 32 degrees Celsius.

We can expect similar temperatures in California next week with our 2024 USA Tour starting against Wrexham in Santa Clara on Wednesday.

Our new head coach Enzo Maresca was in the thick of things as usual, issuing instructions as he continues to get his footballing philosophy across to his new players.

Tosin Adarabioyo is adapting not just to a new head coach but also a new club, and he has told us about his start to life at Chelsea.

‘Pre-season has been great so far,’ he said. ‘All the training sessions and getting to know the boys have been real highlights. I’ve had a lot of fun so far.

‘I’ve enjoyed my first few weeks,' Tosin continued. 'We are working hard and learning the way the manager wants us to play. We have spent time focusing on that while doing the physical work.

‘It’s great because he is asking a lot of me and the other defenders. It starts with the central defenders and the goalkeeper; we are the focal point.’

Now we are just a few days away from seeing a Maresca Chelsea team in action for the first time, and the countdown to our trip across the pond and our opening game against Wrexham, which you can still be at, is well and truly on.
