It is back to Premier League action this weekend for Chelsea as Fulham visit Stamford Bridge tomorrow lunchtime – and our final preparations ahead of the west London derby were completed at Cobham today.
Work started in the gym for the first-team players, many of whom were wearing the newly-releasedNike Pegasus 40 trainer, which displays our badge and matches the Chelsea training wear collection.
Ben Chilwell was involved and the England international could be one of three players to return from injury against Fulham, as head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in his pre-match press conference.
'There is good news about Ben Chilwell and Benoit (Badiashile) – and we need to assess whether Carney (Chukwuemeka) will be available. But Chilly and Benoit, yes, they will be involved in the squad for tomorrow.'
'The other good news is that Trevoh Chalobah has started to work with the group. Now we need to assess him day by day and see when he can help us.'
It was in this fixture last year that Enzo Fernandez made his Chelsea debut. The Argentine has gone on to make 44 further appearances for the Blues and is looking forward to featuring in another west London derby.
'It's a very important game for us,' said the World Cup winner. 'It's a London derby and very important for us to win so we can climb up the table.
'We need to take some responsibility, and we want to win and show everyone what we are capable of. We will keep fighting and carry on giving our all.'
With Nicolas Jackson away at the African Cup of Nations and Christopher Nkunku ruled out through injury, there is likely to be another appearance in attack Armando Broja against Fulham.
The Academy graduate struck on our last outing at Stamford Bridge – the FA Cup victory over Preston North End – but is still readjusting to the demands of the fixture schedule after a year on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
'He cannot start like a normal player,' Pochettino explained after our midweek clash against Middlesbrough.
'Armando came from one year out injured and it's difficult for a player like this to start three games in seven days. We need to manage and we have another game [against Fulham] that he should start.'
