Sunday’s big match is edging ever closer, as the Blues picked up the pace in our preparations for a crucial Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest.
At Cobham on Thursday the Chelsea squad were gathering momentum for what is set to be a dramatic and decisive last day in the Premier League.
We will travel to the City Ground on Sunday separated from our opponents by just one point in the table, as both sides look to secure a top-five finish and UEFA Champions League qualification, with Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Manchester City the other sides involved in that close race.
‘It is effectively a final,’ said Levi Colwill. ‘We have to prepare the best we can in training. That’s the most important thing this week.
‘When we get to Sunday, we have to believe in ourselves. If we believe in each other, we can definitely win there.’
Nicolas Jackson will serve the final game of his suspension on Sunday and it remains to be seen if Christopher Nkunku or Marc Guiu will be fit enough to be involved, having only recently returned to training following injury.
But our head coach has plenty of options when it comes to picking the team that will give us the best chance of claiming victory over Forest, which would guarantee us a place in the top tier of European football for 2025/26.
‘Since the beginning we have done a really good season and our goal is to finish where we deserve to be, which is in the Champions League,’ added Pedro Neto.
‘We have to feel confident. We are in control of the situation. It depends on us. We just have to keep going and win the game that is coming.’
Kick-off at Nottingham Forest is at 4pm on Sunday. Before then, you can catch Enzo Maresca’s pre-match press conference live on the official Chelsea website and app at 9am on Friday morning.
