Chelsea's players were out on the grass at Cobham this morning to undertake the penultimate training session ahead of our FA Cup quarter-final tie against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will attempt to advance into the last four of the world's oldest club competition on Sunday – and earn a second trip to Wembley Stadium this season following our appearance in the Carabao Cup final.

Leicester will, however, not prove easy opponents. The Foxes currently sit atop the Championship table and eliminated Premier League opposition in the form of Bournemouth in the last round.

‘For us in the dressing room, to beat Leicester and go back to Wembley again would be massive,’ explained head coach Mauricio Pochettino in his pre-match press conference.

‘To reach another semi-final would be very good for us – and that would give us the possibility to reach a final and to try to win and qualify for Europe through the FA Cup.

‘But first of all, we need to think of Leicester, who are doing really well in the Championship. They are a very good team, we know very well players, and the coach is doing fantastic. It is going to be tough.’

Chelsea were boosted this week by the return of Ben Chilwell to first-team training. The left-back was back with the group on Thursday following a knee injury and was involved in Friday's session.

The 27-year-old has also been called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate for their forthcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

‘Gareth told you Chilly is fit [by selecting him for England],' explained Pochettino. 'He is in training and I think everything is going well. He will be in the squad for Sunday, yes.

‘When a player comes back from injury, starts to feel fit, and then has a call-up for the national team, they are always so excited. So, he is excited like the rest of the players [selected for England].’

Chilwell will be joined in the England squad by both Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer, who scored and assisted on Monday night as we overcame Newcastle United 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer has now contributed to more than 20 goals across all competitions this season and Pochettino praised the impact the 21-year-old has made at Chelsea following his summer arrival from Manchester City.

‘I’m not surprised that he is showing great personality and character,' said Pochettino. 'The way he adapted quickly to Chelsea, adapted to the demands of the coaching staff, and dealt with the pressure to play at a big club like Chelsea makes him special.

'The most important thing is how he deals with pressure. We have amazing players but sometimes they have struggled and need time. But with him, it’s amazing how he has adapted. It’s like he has played here for 20 years.'

Gallagher, meanwhile has been an almost ever-present for the Blues this term and fought off illness to captain the side to three points against Newcastle United.

‘He is convincing the England manager because his commitment is always 200 per cent in every single appearance and training,’ continued Pochettino.

‘He needs to keep performing with this commitment because it’s one of his special skills – the capacity to always be ready to fight, to commit to help the team, and then show his quality. He needs to keep believing and trying to improve in this way.

‘Another challenge is for him to score more goals. From the beginning of the season that was really tough for him, but now he has been scoring and he is feeling more confident. To grow in this direction is the most important thing for him.’
