Chelsea got back to work at Cobham on Wednesday looking to carry momentum from the weekend’s dramatic victory through the week to our next match.
The Blues came from behind late on to claim all three points at neighbours Fulham, as teenage substitute Tyrique George netted his first Premier League goal in the 83rd minute to cancel out Axel Iwobi’s opener, before Pedro Neto smashed in a thunderous winner in added time.
That took us back up the table and into the qualification places for next season’s UEFA Champions League, in an increasingly tight fight to secure the European spots in the Premier League standings.
After the excellent second-half performance at Craven Cottage which earned us a memorable derby win, the Blues got back to work aiming to put in a strong performance when we are back in action on Saturday, for Everton’s visit to Stamford Bridge.
‘In the second half we knew we’d have to dig deep and show how much we wanted the win,’ said Levi Colwill. ‘I think in the second half you saw a different Chelsea and that’s the Chelsea we need to start with every game.
‘It was a huge win for us because going to Fulham is never easy. It can definitely give us confidence for the remaining games – both in the league and in Europe – but we have to just keep taking each game as it comes.
‘The focus now is on Everton in our next game, a tough fixture, but one we can take confidence into following this victory.’
The work to continue building on that win over Fulham when the Toffees come to west London is now under way, with the preparations for that Premier League kick-off early on Saturday beginning at Cobham on Wednesday, after a couple of days to recover and reset following the drama at Craven Cottage.
