Mauricio Pochettino and the Chelsea players braved the wet weather conditions at Cobham today as our preparation for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday continued.
With only three days to go until the Blues walk out under the famous arch to take on the Reds, the squad has been hard at work at our training base in Surrey preparing for the final.
And despite the soaking conditions on Thursday morning, the players remained in good spirits ahead of the Wembley trip.
Djordje Petrovic was one of those who appeared to enjoy the workout and – as all good goalkeepers should in such conditions – finished the session soaked to the skin and covered in mud.
The 24-year-old is set to follow in the footsteps of his good friend and former goalkeeper coach Kevin Hitchcock on Sunday at Wembley.
Hitchcock was part of the Chelsea squad that won the League Cup in 1998 and he sat down to chat with Petrovic about what to expect from Sunday's encounter, which can be read here.
Meanwhile, Academy graduate Conor Gallagher, who has captained the side regularly this season, was one of those involved and, should he be selected against Liverpool, will play his first final as part of the Chelsea first team.
Gallagher has struck three goals in our previous three matches – on the road at Aston Villa in the FA Cup and a double at Crystal Palace in the Premier League – and will be hoping to net his first Carabao Cup goal of the season on the biggest stage.
The inclement weather also didn't put off the shorts-clad Alfie Gilchrist, who is another Academy graduate preparing for his first final in the senior set-up.
Gilchrist, a boyhood Blues supporter, has featured twice in our run to the final, coming on in both legs of our semi-final victory over Championship club Middlesbrough.
Enzo Fernandez took part in the session and will travel to Wembley as our joint-top goalscorer in the Carabao Cup this season.
The Argentine struck in our victories over AFC Wimbledon and Middlesbrough and is level on two goals with Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke.
Pochettino, who will speak to the media tomorrow (Friday) afternoon to preview the final, will not have an easy job of selecting his forward line for the game.
Nicolas Jackson has performed well following his return from AFCON at the start of the month while Madueke and Palmer have played important roles in the Blues reaching the final.
Christopher Nkunku, however, showcased his quality with a fine goal during our trip to Anfield last month and also helped turn the game after his introduction against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Then there is Raheem Sterling, who was sporting a new look as he prepared for the final. The winger netted last time out against Manchester City and has often performed well at Wembley, which is where he grew up.
