After a well-earned day off on Tuesday the Chelsea players were back at Cobham this morning as the build-up to our trip to Burnley began.

It was a sunny and mild morning in Surrey with the group split depending on their level of involvement in the impressive 2-0 win at Fulham.

There was good news in the form of Mykhailo Mudryk back on the grass following his early withdrawal at Craven Cottage.

The Ukrainian put us ahead with his first Chelsea goal before going off at half-time with a slight quad problem, but Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by his involvement having heaped praise on the winger in the wake of Monday’s win.

'He's played because he has deserved to – and because he’s showed in the training sessions that he has deserved to,’ said Pochettino.

‘He's been really focused and his performance in training provides us the confidence to put him on the pitch and play.'

Armando Broja was our other goalscorer against Fulham on what his first start since November 2022. The striker left the pitch with an hour under his belt and continued his recovery in the gym today.

‘It’s an unbelievable feeling,’ Broja beamed after the Fulham game.

‘It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been out for a while so it’s good to be back. I’m so happy for the team to win the game and carry on this momentum going forward. It’s an even better feeling for myself to get my first goal of the season on my first start, so I’m just thankful.’

Broja will be competing for a starting berth at Burnley with Nicolas Jackson. The striker is available once more after serving his suspension for five-yellow cards, and he was in the thick of things today seeking to build on his winner against Brighton a week ago now.

Conor Gallagher was outstanding at the Cottage. Our skipper was chosen as Sky’s Player of the Match, and he spoke of his pride at leading Chelsea out at the moment.

‘We’ve got a very young squad here and I would say I’m probably one of the more senior players now in terms of Premier League experience,’ noted the midfielder.

‘I’ve tried to be a bit more disciplined and to be more of a leader on the pitch. I’d even say off the pitch as well, to help set a good example at all times.’

Having run further than anyone else on Monday, it was understandable Conor needed to stretch out this morning!

One player who has had a good week is Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard has deputised for the suspended Malo Gusto at right-back in the wins over Brighton and Fulham that both came with clean sheets.

He has barely put a foot wrong so no wonder it was two thumbs up for Cucu today!

The players will report back for training on Thursday morning.
