Enzo Maresca has been working his group hard since the players reported back on Monday, and the graft continued today out on the grass at Cobham and in the gym.

The players will be back in tomorrow at Cobham and will then enjoy a well-earned day off on Sunday, but before then it was down to work with several different drills and exercises to complete.

The players' reactions were tested with Ben Chilwell seeing the funny side as he and Trevoh Chalobah darted between posts. They will both be keeping a keen eye on Sunday's Euro 2024 final when England are in action.

Earlier today we completed the signing of Renato Veiga from Basel, and he revealed he knew one of our squad already.

‘Diego Moreira is my boy,’ he told us in his first interview. ‘I know him from the national team. I look forward to seeing him here because I haven’t actually got a chance to catch up with him. That will be a special moment.'

It is not only the outfielders putting a shift in. Djordje Petrovic and his fellow keepers were at full stretch as they worked on building their sharpness and reflexes up after a few weeks off.
