Geovany Quenda is officially a Blue! From record-breaking achievements to European experience, here are five things you might not have known about the Portuguese winger...

Record setting

He may only be 19 years old, but Quenda has already broken and set plenty of records during his fledgling career.

When a Sporting Lisbon player, he scored his first senior goal for the club in August 2024 against Porto in the Portuguese Super Cup, becoming their youngest-ever goalscorer and eclipsing the record previously held by messrs Simao and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He didn't stop there, either. In September 2025, Quenda became the youngest Portuguese player to score in the UEFA Champions League era when he found the net in a 4-1 victory over Kairat.

European pedigree

Despite his age, Quenda already has significant experience on the biggest stage in European club football.

During his time with Sporting, the winger featured 16 times in Europe’s elite competition, most recently in their quarter-final clash last season with eventual runners-up Arsenal.

Trophy winner

Quenda already boasts an impressive collection of silverware for someone so early into their career.

During the 2024/25 campaign, he helped Sporting complete a domestic double as they claimed their 21st league title, featuring in every league match along the way.

The flying winger scored twice, registered five assists and impressed on both flanks, underlining his versatility throughout a memorable campaign.

Recognition and reunion

Quenda's breakthrough 2024/25 season brought individual recognition as well as team success, with the teenager named Liga Portugal's Young Player of the Season after helping Sporting secure the domestic double.

It was also a campaign in which he lined up alongside new Chelsea team-mate Dario Essugo during Sporting's emphatic 6-1 win over CD Nacional.

Portugal’s rising star

Quenda has also represented Portugal throughout the youth age groups and continues to establish himself as one of his country’s brightest young talents.

He has featured for the Under-17s and Under-21s, while also being named on the bench for the senior squad on four occasions

The winger earned 13 caps for Portugal's Under-21s, reached the quarter-finals of the 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship and helped Portugal finish runners-up at the 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, where he was also named in the Team of the Tournament.
