Congratulations to our former skipper Karen Carney, who won the BBC television programme Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night!

Kaz became the first footballer to lift the glitterball trophy after winning the public vote ahead of Love Islander Amber Davies and social media star George Clarke in Saturday's live final on BBC One.

Our former skipper, who played the final three years of her professional career at Chelsea between 2016 and 2019, said: 'I can't believe it, it's been the biggest privilege and honour,' before adding she was 'lost for words'.

Carney, who was paired with professional dancer Carlos Gu, performed routines including a show dance to Inner Smile by Texas, and an Argentine Tango to Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.

The pair - sporting Chelsea blue - also performed a football-themed jive to One Way Or Another by Blondie, earning them a standing ovation, and their second perfect score of the night from the judges. Carney and Gu then topped the public vote to take home the silverware.

Congratulations, Kaz!
