The Chelsea Foundation’s entrepreneur and start-up programmes will continue via a digital classroom in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Due to Government guidelines our education team have evolved some of our programmes to ensure young people and adult learners can still access our qualifications, using existing technologies such as Google Classroom to build the programmes online.
This week has seen the first group of Chelsea FC Entrepreneurs, who are looking to start their own business or help grow an existing business, take part in the sessions with nine participants receiving expert advice and content from our enterprise lead tutor James Byford.
Foundation enterprise lead tutor James Byford said: ‘The Chelsea FC Entrepreneur programme is a unique and highly successful programme that has been running for five years enabling small groups of very early stage start-ups to help get their business plans and personal development ready.
‘We're really making the most of the available online technologies to offer flexible support to those that still need this programme and want to continue to improve their lives and their community at large through the initiative.
‘Using online platforms is a great representation of education and innovation combining to serve the need of the local community of start-ups during an uncertain time.’
The digital transformation does not stop there with all of our adult qualifications moved online to ensure we can support people with the skills, mind-set and qualifications they need for employment.
This week will see two Google Classrooms running to support 16- to 24-year-olds. The first one is delivering a BTEC sport qualification to college students and the second the continuation of our Tech Careers Traineeship for 16- to 24-year-olds who are looking to gain employment in the technology industry.
Foundation employability and enterprise manager Carl Southwell said: ‘In under a week we have flipped our classroom model from face-to-face to online to adapt to the changing needs of the learners.
‘We have used the skills and mind-set that we teach in our programmes of thinking lean, being agile and building our programme around the customer experience and need.
‘We are still learning and discovering new capabilities of existing technologies on offer and will continue to do so to support the needs of our community.’
The Foundation is also offering the following online qualifications:
• Customer Service Level 2 Certificate• Employability Level 1 Certificate• Digital Skills Level 1 Award
