Chelsea Foundation duo Ashley Watson and Jonathan Reid recently told their story of pain, homelessness, attempted suicide and disappointment to inspire others within our community who are in need of help.

The Chelsea Foundation continues to work hard in our community, both at home and abroad, with Chelsea Champion officers Ashley Watson and Jonathan Reid discussing the impact the organisation has made on their lives at a Champion Mentality event at Stamford Bridge.

The pair are now full-time Foundation staff and have been involved in many projects for the charity, including Qatar National Sports Day and the Chelsea Champions Mental Health Day.

But their journey to success wasn't straight forward and recently they both told their stories to help the next generation.

Held in the Drake Suite at Stamford Bridge, Ashley and Jonathan shared their stories to a room filled with family, friends, colleagues and guests with the focus of the evening on understanding the battles in life and to provide people with inspiration and motivation to drive towards their goals, raise their standards and develop a growth mind-set.

Ashley, who is based at Fulham College Boys in his role for the Chelsea Champions programme, said: 'The Champion Mentality event was an amazing opportunity for myself and Jonathan to deliver key messages, life stories and coping strategies for young people who are going into year 11 or sixth form.

'With parents and guardians in the audience, it was a great chance to deliver key messages that spark positive, optimistic and encouraging conversations in the home of the young people in attendance.

'The challenge of creating, planning and organising the event was daunting. However, through fantastic support from the Foundation, in-depth planning, creativity, and able to work together to deliver a memorable event.'

Jonathan, who is based at Pimlico Academy, added: 'The event was a great opportunity for myself and Ashley to motivate and inspire young people.

'It was also a chance to understand a bit more about ourselves and build on the many great skills we have picked up while at Chelsea Foundation.'
