The must-haves

Cole Palmer (£9.6m) is looking back to his best and becoming essential in FPL. Following his double-digit haul in gameweek one, the Englishman followed it up with a goal against Brighton & Hove Albion. Palmer racked up four shots on goal and an expected goal involvement tally of 0.79.

His early performances will encourage Fantasy managers that Palmer is capable of producing the kind of form shown in 2023/24, when he returned 244 points in 29 starts, and that he is a viable captaincy option. His ownership continues to grow, with another 650,000+ transfers in this week.

Morgan Rogers (£7.5m) continued his superb start to life in a Blues shirt with another attacking return, this time an assist following his goal at Craven Cottage in gameweek one.

No Chelsea player has registered more expected goal involvements (xGI) or created more big chances so far this season. While Palmer and Joao Pedro are proving more popular, Rogers continues to fly under the radar as a consistent Fantasy asset with strong minutes.

Making his first start of the campaign, Pedro Neto (£6.5m) impressed at right wing-back, scoring the Blues’ second goal. The Portugal international had two shots on target and created a big chance against Brighton. Neto is one to watch as the cheapest Blues attacker in FPL to have started a league game so far.

Most popular Chelsea player of the week

Unsurprisingly, Joao Pedro (£7.7m) is the highest-owned Chelsea FPL player – and indeed in the entire game. The Brazilian currently sits in just under 70 per cent of teams.

Following his nine-point haul against Brighton, more than 750,000 managers have brought in the Brazilian ahead of Friday’s gameweek three deadline, resulting in another price rise of £0.1m. Joao Pedro is the top-scoring forward in Fantasy by five points, despite scoring an unfortunate own goal against the Seagulls.

Among Blues players, Joao Pedro leads the way for shots (nine), big chances (three), penalty box touches (17) and expected goals (1.85). This continues a trend from last season when Chelsea’s No.9 led the way for all four of those metrics.

Although it will be a tough assignment on Sunday, with Arsenal yet to concede a goal, Joao Pedro will undoubtedly be at the heart of the Blues' offensive threat. No team has scored more goals than Chelsea.

Best value-for-money Chelsea pick

In defence, Jorrel Hato (£4.5m) has started consecutive matches at left wing-back and showcased his attacking potential with a superb assist for Joao Pedro against Brighton. Owned by fewer than one per cent of Fantasy managers, the Dutchman is the cheapest way into the Chelsea back line and has had more penalty box touches (four) than any of his fellow Blues defenders.

In the back three, Levi Colwill (£5m) started once again and was just one defensive contribution away from the required threshold for two additional points at the time of his substitution. If the Englishman can add regular defensive contribution points to his locker, he will quickly become great value for money.
