It’s difficult to look beyond Joao Pedro (£7.5m), who currently sits in over 60 per of FPL teams after a stunning pre-season. The Brazilian scored seven goals in five matches, including a brace in the Blues’ most recent victory over Real Sociedad. No Chelsea player registered more Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) than our new number nine, with a tally of 14.91.  Encouragingly for Gameweek 1, Joao Pedro netted against Fulham last season.

Watch

With Manchester United and Liverpool midfielders proving popular due to favourable early fixtures, Cole Palmer (£9.5m) is very much one to watch in the opening Gameweeks of the season. The Englishman should benefit from a summer break and has racked up plenty of pre-season minutes. With penalties in his locker, Palmer could rocket in ownership with a strong performance on Monday night.

Differential

With Xabi Alonso setting Chelsea up in a back-three formation for the final three pre-season friendlies, Fantasy managers will naturally be drawn to the attacking defenders. Marco Palestra (£5.5m), signed from Atalanta in the summer, has taken up some very advanced positions in pre-season and can play on either side. The Italian currently sits in just 2.7 per cent of Fantasy teams, making him a huge differential with routes to points at both ends of the pitch.
