Conor Gallagher was pleased to help Chelsea secure European qualification and reflected on a gruelling yet rewarding 2023/24 season.

In the Cobham graduate’s second full season with the Blues, Gallagher became the first and only Chelsea player to play 50 matches this campaign, reaching the landmark during our Premier League finale against Bournemouth where we ran out 2-1 victors.

At just 24 years old, Gallagher has been a regular starter in the middle of the park, as the Blues only suffered one defeat in our last 15 matches in the top flight on our way to guaranteeing a place in continental competition for next season.

The dynamic Englishman also feels it's valuable to place our achievements in context with Gallagher recognising the club’s previous successes.

‘It was a fantastic end to the season,’ he opened, when speaking to us recently. 'I think we won the last five games and it’s a great achievement for us.

‘Securing European football is also a great achievement considering where we were at, but the expectation at Chelsea is more than what we have achieved this season. Everyone knows that but considering the moment, it’s a great achievement.’

The midfielder believes it has been a productive campaign for his development on and off the pitch, enjoying his most prolific season in front of goal for Chelsea and registering the most minutes in the entire squad.

‘Personally, I think it’s been a successful season for myself,’ he continued.

‘I’m really thankful to the fans for believing in me and showing their support throughout the season because it has helped me grow in confidence and perform the way we have, so I’m very thankful for that.

‘I’ve scored a few goals which has been very nice. You can’t beat the feeling of scoring and I’m really happy that I’ve been able to help the team out because that’s the most important thing.'

Heading into the summer months, Gallagher was also full of praise for the Blues supporters at Stamford Bridge and around the world.

‘I’m so grateful for the supporters,’ he added.

‘It means so much to me personally after such a difficult season last year. To show the love to me personally this season is such a nice feeling.’
