There was little neighbourly love on show between Chelsea and Fulham at Stamford Bridge yesterday, but ultimately the Blues came out on top in the west London derby.
Fulham had started the stronger of the two sides – and that was before the Blues were forced into an early change due to a hamstring injury sustained by Liam Delap.
The Cottagers thought they had taken the lead midway through the half when teenager Joshua King ran through to score, but after intervention from VAR, the referee spotted a foul on Trevoh Chalobah by Rodrigo Muniz in the build-up.
It took until the final minute of the nine added at the end of the first half for us to take advantage of that reprieve; Joao Pedro headed home from an excellently delivered Enzo Fernandez corner to send the sides into the break ahead.
The Argentine then got on the scoresheet in the second period as he converted a penalty following a handball from Ryan Sessegnon, which was awarded after another recommendation by VAR. From then on, Maresca's side never looked like surrendering the three points.
We have collated the standout images from today's victory, which ensured the Blues went into the international break having taken seven points from our opening three matches. Enjoy!
