The new season began with a bang for Chelsea as we put five goals past Real Sociedad in the first leg of our UEFA Women's Champions League qualifier against Real Sociedad.
There were some big performances on the night as summer signing Melvine Malard scored a brace on her debut, while there were also goals from defenders Veerle Buurman and Naomi Girma, as well as our No10 Lauren James as we beat the Spaniards 5-2.
Ellie Carpenter provided two assists, while another new signing, Katie McCabe, swung in the corner for Girma's headed goal.
