The 1990s were transformative for Chelsea. Foreign stars arrived, 'sexy football' was played and trophies were lifted at home and abroad. Our kits from that era have also stayed in the memory – perhaps no more so than the home shirt worn between 1997 and 1999.

Those two years saw the Blues celebrate success over land and sea. The League Cup was won, the Cup Winners' Cup followed, and then the UEFA Super Cup was claimed by Gianluca Vialli's side.

On each occasion, our famous blue shirt with its white collar and yellow and black trim was worn. It's those successes and countless other memories – our 6-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, for instance! – that has earned the shirt favoured status among supporters.

Fast forward to 2024 and that vintage shirt has been given not one, but two fresh twists. It is now available in stylish all-black, while there is also a crisp, all-white version for fans to kit themselves out.

And to celebrate the new releases, we've delved into the archives to source some of the best images and memories from throughout the kit's initial run - giving them a black and white makeover in the process.
