Chelsea Under-19s wrapped up the league stage of our UEFA Youth League campaign with an impressive away performance against Atalanta, maintaining our unbeaten record in the competition so far.
Calum McFarlane’s Blues made it five wins from six on Tuesday afternoon, showing real determination and attacking threat throughout. The breakthrough came from Jesse Derry, who has been lively all tournament, finishing calmly after a clever assist from Reggie Walsh.
Atalanta equalised through a Francesco Gasparello header, but parity was short-lived. We regained the lead before the break as Derry drilled home his second, rounding off a flurry of late first-half goals.
After the interval, we extended our advantage when Walsh fired low from the edge of the box following smart play from Genesis Antwi. From there, we continued to push, defended resolutely and saw out a deserved victory as we look ahead to the knockout stages in the New Year.
