Alejandro Garnacho and Chelsea are currently preparing for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley, and it is a venue and competition the winger knows well.

Saturday could mark Garnacho’s fourth visit to the national stadium for a cup final since breaking into the Manchester United senior team during the 2022/23 season, and his third for an FA Cup final.

He has lifted the trophy once previously, in 2024, and the opportunity to go back to Wembley and do so again with the Blues is one he is excited about.

‘I love this stadium and it’s always a good feeling to go to Wembley,’ said Garnacho. 'From the start of my career, I played there every season. I think that is important.

‘Playing another FA Cup final and this time winning with Chelsea, a different club, would be special.’

In a quirk of fate, Manchester City have been the opponents in both previous FA Cup finals Garnacho has been involved in, and are once again the team lying in wait for Chelsea this season.

It brings back fond memories for the Argentinian, who scored the opening goal for United in their victory in the Manchester derby final two years ago.

‘I remember that day – playing at Wembley against Manchester City,’ he continued.

‘The stadium was full and I scored the first goal. To win the trophy was incredible and a moment I had dreamed about.'

Now Garnacho is targeting a repeat by making more history in the FA Cup final at Wembley, this time with Chelsea.

‘A trophy is important for everyone and the FA Cup is really, really nice to win here in England,’ the 21-year-old concluded.

‘Everyone is excited for the FA Cup and it’s a final that is important. We'll try to do everything right and hopefully we can get another trophy.’
