Alejandro Garnacho was one of the stars of our victory away to Cardiff in the previous round of the Carabao Cup and now the winger wants to play his part in helping us progress to the final with victory over Arsenal.

The Blues have reached this stage of the competition with victories away to Lincoln, Wolves and Cardiff. The quarter-final tie in South Wales swung our way following Garnacho’s introduction at half-time, with the Argentinean producing two fine finishes in an eventual 3-1 success.

He was pleased with his contribution that night - and now he wants more.

‘Sometimes people are going to think your best moment is when you score goals, but obviously football is more than this,’ said Garnacho.

‘You're always happy when you score and now we have the semi-final coming. It's a big opportunity for us to be there in Wembley and try to win a trophy, which is always good.

‘In this club you need to win trophies also. It would be amazing. It’s a cup competition, a trophy, everything counts. We are really motivated for that semi-final and hopefully we can go to Wembley.’

Garnacho tasted victory in this competition with Man United in 2023, and he believes playing on big occasions such as the one that awaits at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening has significantly aided his development.

The Gunners come to west London atop the Premier League and Champions League tables, so Garnacho is under no illusion of the size of the task ahead. But even in his short time as a Chelsea player, the 21-year-old has seen evidence of the team’s capabilities when facing the best in the business.

‘We know it's going to be hard, but we already showed to the world that we can beat any team,’ he pointed out.

‘For example Barcelona, or when we played Arsenal at home with ten players, we showed that we are a fantastic team so we can do it.

‘Of course it's more motivation when you play against a team like this, but we don't really focus on who is the other team. We just focus on us to win the game, and hopefully we can do that.’
