Alejandro Garnacho has called on the Blues to take victory at Fulham for the supporters and explained how his team-mates, especially Enzo Fernandez, have helped him make Chelsea his home over the last four months.
Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United at the start of 2025/26 and has gotten straight into the thick of the action with the Blues, making 20 appearances during his first half a season in west London.
We have now passed the midway point in that campaign, with the second half of the season officially kicking off when we secured a 1-1 draw at Manchester City in our 20th Premier League fixture on Sunday.
Reflecting on his start to life with Chelsea, Garnacho explained how hard work, self-belief and the help of his team-mates, including fellow Argentinian and vice-captain Fernandez, are helping him get up to speed.
‘I know the player I am and the player I can be so this is the most important thing,’ he said. ‘I'm working every day, really hard.
‘I think with time, everything is going to be good, but now the thing is to work every day and try to do the best on the pitch for the team and win games for the team.
‘People are helping me a lot. A lot of people speak Spanish here, so they help. I'm really happy to be part of this club and keep working and keep playing.
‘I've said many times, with Enzo for me it's like having my big brother here! He's helping me a lot, in training, in games. When I'm at home, he texts me "how are you?".
‘Obviously, I know him from the national team and during the summer [before the move] I spoke with him, also. I'm happy to have a player and a captain like him here. Really happy.’
In his first 20 games for Chelsea, Garnacho has contributed four goals and three assists. The 21-year-old hopes there are plenty more of both to come, but is prioritising the team’s results, rather than individual achievements.
‘The main focus is to win games. Sometimes you're going to score goals, assist your team-mates, but the important thing is to help.
‘I know that I can score a lot of goals. I miss a lot of chances also, but this is normal. I'm still young, it's part of football. I think I have room to improve and, with time, I think I'm going to score a lot of goals.’
He will be hoping to do so under new Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior, who is scheduled to start work with the squad on Thursday, with Under-21s head coach Calum McFarlane remaining in the dugout for tonight’s trip to neighbours Fulham.
Garnacho is hoping the Blues can repay our fans for their support during a difficult period by following up the hard-fought draw at Man City with a victory at Craven Cottage, even if he knows it will be another tough challenge.
The 21-year-old said: ‘We know Fulham and we know away games in the Premier League are always hard, wherever they are. We will go there and we'll try to do our best. The fans deserve the three points after a difficult couple of weeks.
‘I think we're going into the game with good momentum from Sunday. To take a point in a stadium like the Etihad, I think is one of the hardest ones. We'll go to Fulham and try to get the three points because it's what this club demands and we're going to try to do our best.’
