Gary Cahill is the subject of our latest feature-length interview, in which the former Chelsea captain looks back on his seven hugely successful years at Stamford Bridge.

Cahill, who signed for Chelsea from Bolton in January 2012, sat down to reflect on his time at Stamford Bridge, which saw him win eight trophies and have the honour of being named club captain following the departure of legendary skipper John Terry.

The former defender recalls what it was like joining Chelsea at that stage of his career and how his first few months at the club were laden with drama, culminating in FA Cup and Champions League glory.

Cahill also discusses his relationship with Terry and Jose Mourinho, one of several former head coaches with whom he achieved glory. It is a part of his life he looks back on now with great affection.

‘Overall, it was an amazing time and one that was definitely a success,’ says Cahill in the interview, which you can watch above.

‘It was a huge chunk of my career and such a successful period in my life that every time I go back it’s fond memories.

‘I’d like to think the fans appreciated I gave everything when I played. I was grateful to get the opportunity to go to Chelsea. I was proud of what I did.

‘It’s one thing getting an opportunity - and there are many players that have come and gone in quick succession and can’t handle it – but I feel like as much as playing ability, you need mental strength.

‘You need to have that mental side of it at the highest level, and I feel proud I was able to balance that and cope with that.’
