With just weeks to go until the Big Stamford Bridge Sleep Out takes place, you can still get involved and help raise funds for our neighbours Stoll...
Organised by the Chelsea Supporters Trust in conjunction with Chelsea Football Club, this year's event will be taking place virtually due to UK Government restrictions owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nevertheless, the virtual element means you can choose where you sleep, whether it's the garden, the living room floor or even the Shed (not that one!). All money raised from the event will go to the Stoll charity, who provide supported housing for vulnerable and disabled veterans and dependents from all three armed forces.
Stoll, based in the Oswald Stoll mansions adjacent to Stamford Bridge, work with approximately 500 individuals each year. They address a wide range of barriers to independence, and ensure they are securely housed and their health needs, including emotional wellbeing and mental health, are being addressed effectively. Over half of the veterans Stoll works with suffer from one or more mental health conditions; of this group, over half have a diagnosis of PTSD.
Alex is one of those Stoll veterans and will be a familiar face to regular visitors to the Bridge. He has spent years on the Fulham Road with his Stoll collection bucket on matchdays and has urged Blues fans to get involved in this latest event...
The maiden event in 2019 raised over £25,000 and even featured a guest appearance from Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood!
