Billy Gilmour has made the six-man shortlist for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.
Gilmour, who has now been officially promoted into the men’s team squad, has been nominated for the accolade following a campaign in which he started 11 of the 17 PL2 games, scoring two goals and assisting four as Andy Myers’ team sat at the top of the table before its abandonment in March.
The midfielder joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 from Glasgow Rangers, where he had been since the age of eight and progressed through the Chelsea youth development ranks quickly, picking up the PL2 Player of the Month award in 2019 for the month of August after a memorable few weeks for the youngster. He had earlier signed a new contract and made his senior debut but his season was cut short earlier this month with a knee injury that required surgery.
Across Academy competitions, the 19-year-old made 15 appearances, catching the eye of Frank Lampard, who has given him a total of 11 outings in the senior side this term.
The full list of nominees includes Jamal Hector-Ingram (Derby County), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), Liam Cullen (Swansea City), Rayhaan Tulloch (West Brom) and Nathan Holland (West Ham).
The shortlist was selected by a panel of Premier League representatives after PL2 managers had nominated the best individual performance from each of their opponents over the season. The winner will be announced in due course.
