Naomi Girma was proud of the way Chelsea stuck together after two tough defeats and ended the run with a win away at Tottenham on Sunday.
The American defender won back possession on seven occasions during the win in North London and made several key defensive interventions against a Spurs side who threw everything at the Blues during the first half of action.
While she was one of the key performers during that victory, Girma was keen to praise the efforts of the whole side in earning the key result away from home.
‘It feels really good,’ she said after the game on Sunday. ‘I think it was a really good team performance and I’m proud of the way we responded to the last two losses and just came out and played.
‘We regrouped this week, did a lot of work on our defensive principles. We wanted to really stick together as a backline and I think we did that.’
The result was not the only positive of the afternoon on Sunday as Sandy Baltimore was introduced as a second-half substitute to make her 50th appearance for Chelsea.
Girma was delighted for Baltimore and praised the impact she has on her side.
‘Sandy is a great team-mate,’ she said. ‘I think she's one of the quieter team-mates, but she is always rooting for everyone, always putting her body on the line, working her hardest.
‘And you see the things she can produce on the field. She's an incredible player, so I can't say anything but nice things about her.’
