Guro Reiten has played a part in five of Chelsea Women’s eight goals over the course of our Champions League round of 32 tie against Benfica.

On Wednesday night the Blues progressed to the round of 16 of the European competition after beating Benfica 3-0 in the second leg of the round of 32 tie, resulting in an 8-0 aggregate triumph.‘I’m really happy with the result,’ Reiten said post-match. ‘We had a good game last time and came into this game leading 5-0 but we know we had to make sure we got the job done.‘It’s the last week before Christmas and we want to win every game so I’m happy and just one more game to go.‘We have so many amazing players that it doesn’t really matter who plays because any one who comes in brings strength and quality. We are in a really good place as a squad.’

Reiten added to her assist tally by setting up Sam Kerr’s first-ever Champions League goal and Bethany England’s second of the match on Wednesday evening. The attacking midfielder who is now in her second season at Chelsea has highlighted the joy she gets from playing in this team.‘We created a lot of chances, we should have maybe scored a couple more but we have progressed to the round of 16 and that’s the main thing right now.‘I’m really happy to be contributing and I’m really enjoying my football, I just love playing with this team.‘We want to win everything, so I believe that if we continue to keep working hard and if we remain focused, we can go as far in this competition,’ she continued.

The Blues will now welcome Tottenham Hotspur to our KT1 home on Sunday for what will be our final game before Christmas and the 26-year-old has spoken of her hopes in ending the year on a high.

‘So far everything has been going great for us and we really want to get those three points, then it will be like a perfect first half of the season.

‘I think it’s going to be a tough game because Tottenham are building but we know that if we play at our highest level we can beat anyone.

‘It’s important that we get some rest and recovery in but we will be ready and prepared for the game on Sunday.’
