Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has been awarded the Yashin Trophy at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
The award recognises the world’s best goalkeeper, and Hampton topped the voting ahead of Germany international and former Blue Ann-Katrin Berger, Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll, Nigeria international Chiamaka Nnadozie, and Arsenal’s Daphne van Domselaar.
Hampton enjoyed a trophy-laden 2024/25 campaign, winning a domestic Treble with Chelsea while also playing a key role in England's triumph at this summer's UEFA Women's Championship.
The 24-year-old excelled during the tournament, registering the highest save percentage of any goalkeeper (70.8 per cent) and also saved two penalties in the final shoot-out against Spain to ensure the Lionesses retained their trophy.
It was not only Hampton's saves that made the headlines during the summer, however. Her range of passing was also the subject of praise, especially when she picked out Alessia Russo with a pinpoint long ball, allowing the forward to provide the assist for Lauren James' stunning strike against the Netherlands in the group stage.
At club level, Hampton kept 21 clean sheets in all competitions for Chelsea last season and was a vital part of Sonia Bompastor’s side during her first campaign in charge of the Blues.
The goalkeeper made 34 appearances, playing 3060 minutes in all competitions, as we secured the Women's Super League title, Women's League Cup, and Women's FA Cup trophies, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.
Congratulations, Hannah!
